People powered energy

Solar power is cleaner, more secure, and cheaper in the long run than electricity from fossil fuels. So why aren’t all our homes and community buildings covered in solar panels?

For most of us, solar power is out of reach

The upfront costs are high, you need to stay in your home for 10-15 years to recoup your money, and if you rent your home or live in a flat it's a non-starter. Meanwhile our bills keep climbing while energy companies are making record profits.

We're done waiting for politicians to fix these issues. We believe that by acting together, we can tip the balance: making solar accessible to everyone and taking control of our energy system.

Community Powerbank is a co-operative. Members pay what they can as membership dues each month, starting from just £1. This money is used to fund solar panels. Energy is sold to users at a lower than market price, but still generating income for the co-operative. Every member gets an equal vote on what we do.
